Dear Fellow St. Clair County Citizens,

As we enter another election season, I want to say thank you for allowing me to serve as your Commission Chairman. My service to you has been one of the greatest blessings that God has given me. My late father, Rev. Hubert Batemon, taught all six of us that service to others is the most important thing in life.

Politics is full of people who put themselves and their friends ahead of the public. I have always fought against patronage and favoritism and against politicians who spend your tax dollars to reward family, friends or special interests. I will continue to fight those battles for you.

I am a proven and tested leader. I fought for you in the jungles of Vietnam as a decorated U.S. Marine. I protected your rights as landowners and hunters during my 30‑year career as a game warden. And for decades I have fought for you at the White House, the State House and the Courthouse as your County Commission Chairman.

With your continued support, I will keep responding to your needs and keep all of you as my focus. I promise never to support any tax without a vote of the people, and under my leadership the county has passed no new taxes. I have worked with seven different governors to promote St. Clair County, and I have always put service before self.

Please get involved this election: study the candidates, choose those with proven records of service, volunteer, and vote. Together we can keep St. Clair County moving forward.
